Council Divisions :: Lesbury

The Lesbury Council Division encircles Alnwick like a doughnut. It includes the former Castle Ward of Alnwick (mainly along Alnmouth Road) and runs down the lower course of the River Aln to include Hipsburn, Lesbury itself and Alnmouth. In 2013, Lesbury Division will be amalgamated into a single two-member ward covering all of Alnwick and its hinterlands.

Alnmouth is a popular tourist destination and the popular local golf course is the fourth oldest in the country. It delined as a port after a dramatic storm changed the course of the Aln in 1806, destroying the village's historic church. Alnmouth Railway Station is in nearby Hipsburn, acting as the effective Railway link to Newcastle for Alnwick.
