New SchoolsNew school buildings for AlnwickAnne-Marie is campaigning for a rebuild of The Duchess' Community High School in Alnwick. Just like the dualling of the A1, the dilapidated state of the school's buildings is an example of a long standing local problem that local elected politicians have not been able to do anything about. In 2007, Anne-Marie took Michael Gove MP, then Shadow Secretary of State for Education, to see the state of the buildings for himself. In 2010, Anne-Marie showed the school to Nick Gibb MP, now Minister for Schools, and made the case for a rebuild. ![]() Anne-Marie and Education Secretary Michael Gove MP Alnwick desperately needs new buildings to educate its young people in. Money will be very tight in the years ahead, which makes it even more important to make the rebuilding of this school a high priority in strategic local planning. It is disappointing that, in 2008 and in 2009, the Lib Dem budgets for Northumberland County Council specifically removed any commitment to finding funding for the rebuilding of Duchess' High School. ![]() Anne-Marie was invited to take part in a Maths Action Day at Alnwick Gardens, in her role as a member of David Cameron's Maths Taskforce
