New HospitalNew hospital for BerwickAnne-Marie believes that it is unacceptable that Berwick residents must make the long and difficult journey to Wansbeck for many treatments. Anne-Marie has long campaigned for Berwick to have a new hospital and is very pleased that a new community hospital will begin construction in 2013. In 2008 Anne-Marie succeeded in getting a mobile MRI scanner to Berwick Infirmary. ![]() Anne-Marie and the mobile MRI scanner at Berwick Infirmary Anne-Marie is an elected Public Governor of the Northumbria NHS Trust, which runs our local hospitals. She regularly takes time to listen to the views of healthcare professionals. ![]() Anne-Marie listens to healthcare professionals with Andrew Lansley, Shadow Secretary of State for Health As part of the package that will see a new community hospital in berwick, our local NHS Trust is proposing to build a new specialist emergency care hospital near Cramlington. In 2009 Anne-Marie undertook a survey of every household in Berwick-upon-Tweed to find out what residents think of the proposals. The results of this survey were fed back to decision makers both at the Trust and at Northumberland County Council. Anne-Marie is also campaigning for better information on how quickly our Ambulance Service will be able to get urgent cases to Cramlington. In 2009 she uncovered statistics revealing that, in some rural locations, only 9% of the most serious emergencies are attended by paramedics within the target time. Our hard pressed ambulance service clearly needs more resources if it is to be able to get to emergency patients and move them to Cramlington in time.
A dualled A1 will mean it takes less time to get to emergency care
