Alnwick is the second largest market town in the constituency. It is best known across the UK for its castle, gardens and for being the historic seat of the Duke of Northumberland. Alnwick is also home and a place of work for thousands of Northumbrians.

Anne-Marie has worked closely with local Independent Councillor Gordon Castle to campaign for the rebuilding of The Duchess' Community High School. In recent years, Anne-Marie has taken senior Conservatives to the school and made the case for rebuilding it, including the current Education Secretary and Schools Minister. Astonishingly, in both 2009 and 2010 the draft budget of the Lib Dem Administration of Northumberland County Council did not include a commitment to find money for rebuilding the school. Working with Anne-Marie, Conservative Councillors have refused to approve these budgets because they leave out this specific commitment.
