This week the Government removed the remaining legal restrictions placed upon the population in 2020 to save lives, protect the NHS’s ability to continue to treat people and minimise the impacts of covid.

Plan B for dealing with Omicron variant

What has changed?

This afternoon, the government has published its plan for tackling covid over the winter months, in a way that does not necessitate further infringements on liberties, which have such a damaging effect on people's physical and mental wellbeing, as well as on the economy.

Changes to self-isolation rules

From Monday 16th August 2021 the rules on self-isolation are changing due to the fantastic success of the UK’s vaccination programme.

If you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for covid, you will not have to isolate if:

MP visits local shops as restrictions ease

Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, has spent a day last week visiting shops and other businesses which recently re-opened as part of the latest lifting of lockdown restrictions.

MP praises vaccination progress

Anne-Marie has praised the incredible efforts of local GP teams and volunteers in ensuring we reached the target of all over 50s offered at least a 1st dose of the covid-19 vaccine by 15th April.
