Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, paid a visit to Coastwatch Berwick yesterday, to meet the volunteers who run the station.
Mrs Trevelyan met Leslie Wooler the Station Controller as well as the other volunteers at the station, including Moi Wooler, Jenn Robson, Pat Currie and Gordon Chapman.
Coastwatch Berwick is run by volunteers, who take shifts in watching over the beaches and bays of Berwick and assisting in search and rescue operations. The volunteers also listen out for incidents of marine distress via radio.
Anne-Marie said: “It was great to meet the team at Coastwatch Berwick and thank them for the service they provide to our community and hear about what a typical shift is like for the volunteers.”
The Coastwatch team is looking for more volunteers to join them – anyone interested in finding out more should contact Leslie on 07738 269071.
