Anne-Marie Trevelyan, Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Berwick-upon-Tweed, held her official general election campaign launch at the town's Guildhall yesterday.
Anne-Marie, who was elected MP for the Berwick-upon-Tweed constituency in 2015, was joined by a group of supporters, as she rallied the troops ahead of the general election campaign.
The launch comes just days after the Conservatives took control of Northumberland County Council, and the Liberal Democrats lost all their council seats in the Berwick-upon-Tweed constituency.
Mrs Trevelyan said: "In just two years as the MP, I have put our patch of Northumberland on the map with Ministers, and my focus if re-elected will be to build on what I have done in the past two years, which have seen the A1 dualling project progress rapidly, an enterprise zone for Berwick, £2 million for the town's port and more and more villages connected to superfast broadband.
"I have spent two years banging the drum for Northumberland in Parliament so ministers understand the unique challenges faced by our rural communities. It would be a real honour to continue to do that, and to support Theresa May as she steers our nation towards its new, global future."
Mrs Trevelyan embarked on a walkabout through Berwick after the official campaign launch, chatting to passers-by before setting off for a campaign session in the town.
