Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the Conservative parliamentary candidate has pledged to listen to and help the Warkworth Voice campaign group who are concerned about the wave of planning applications for new homes in Warkworth.
Anne-Marie Trevelayn said; “I have been approached by many residents from Warkworth who are concerned about the sudden potential building programme in the village. I attended the village meeting last week to listen to local peoples’ views and have set up an online survey to help the campaign group gather views as widely as possible. Warkworth is a historic village with one of Northumberland’s great heritage sites at its heart, so it is important that the village and those that love it should be able to have their say.”
WARKWORTH VILLAGE HOUSING PLANS
Warkworth village has presently got several housing development applications lodged with the County Council. If all of these were passed, this would add over 130 new houses to the village, including the 64 houses recently approved for development on Morwick Road.
Warkworth Parish has 1,550 electors registered on the electoral register. If all these proposed new homes are approved and built, the adult population of the village would increase (on the basis of 3 people per home) by 25%. The potential impact for the school would be substantial, along with the increased pressures on the Amble Health Centre.
Do you agree with these plans? Are you concerned about the impact on the village? Does the village need more infrastructure to cope with so many new homes?
If you are concerned, or have strong views either way with regard to this house development wave of activity, please help us to build up a clear picture of the community’s views by taking a couple of minutes to complete our online survey at:
