Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, has called for compensation to be given to the estimated 7500 attendees at Saturday's Tom Jones concert at Alnwick Castle, which had to be abandoned mid point after a second major power cut out. There was a power cut at the start, which caused a half hour delay and then mid way through, when Tom Jones was singing, the power went out completely, causing the singer to walk off stage and leave the venue.
Anne-Marie Trevelyan, who attended with family and friends including fellow MP, George Freeman said; "Like everyone else, we were really looking forward to this event, in a fantastic setting with a major international star, and it is extremely disappointing that it was abandoned half way. I will be writing to the event organisers, Loose Cannon Events, to ask that they provide an appropriate level of compensation to people who had all paid upwards of £45 for their tickets alone and were left very disappointed".
"After the concert was abandoned, I spoke to a number of people, who all agreed that the event organisation had been shambolic from start to finish - there were long queues for refreshments as picnics had been disallowed, the lay out was poor and there had been issues serious with disabled access. I am thankful that there were no emergencies because I had serious concerns about marshalling and access across the site."
Anne-Marie Trevelyan has asked for those who attended the concert and are seeking reimbursement to email her at; annemarie.trevelyan.mp@parliament.uk
