Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, paid a visit to Tritlington C of E First School in her constituency on Friday.
Her visit coincided with the school’s annual fancy dress day to commemorate World Book Day, in which pupils attend school dressed as one of their favourite characters from a book.
Anne-Marie said: “It was great to see how great the children looked in their incredible costumes – there are clearly some very talented and hardworking parents in Tritlington, judging by the amount of effort put in. My favourite was young Peter Rabbit, as I love Beatrix Potter and the detail on young “Peter’s” costume were incredible.”
Mrs Trevelyan also enjoyed a tour of the school, and a discussion with the Headteacher, Catherine Hughes, about the school’s recent Ofsted report, and wider issues on rural school funding – an issue on which Anne-Marie has been campaigning on for years.
