After years campaigning to dual the A1, I share the real disappointment that today’s further delay means that dualling won’t happen as quickly as we all need and want it to!
I thought it might be helpful to recap a little about our parliamentary constituency and the towns and villages I represent, as well as just some of my visits out and about in the last few months.
We have 3,550 businesses registered in our constituency, up 5% from when I first became your MP (and 5,000 in self-employment), and it’s been lovely to pop into even more of them than usual over the summer.

It was lovely to visit the new harbourmaster in beautiful Seahouses recently, one of the many harbours our coastal constituency’s fishing vessels call home. Northumberland’s fishermen, from home harbours of Berwick, Seahouses, Amble and beyond, have shaped our coastal community for centuries.
